Just over eight months ago, Satarii kicked off a successful campaign on IndieGoGo focused on building a new video tool concept that holds your mobile video camera or device, and captures your moves as it follows you in every direction. Today they introduced an updated industrial design, new name and opened reservations to the community. We’re pleased to introduce you to Swivl!
Before you dig into details, check out this video. It is so cool! We can’t wait to get one in the office:
We’re happy to welcome Swivl to the Stage Two family and honored to support them in their online debut. It’s always exciting to work with companies from their public debut through launch and we expect Swivl to be nothing short of a thrilling ride!
Swivl caught some publicity this morning, take a look and check back for more later today:
In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, Sphero opened up the official Pre-Orders to consumers, confirming they will begin shipping this December. Not only can you buy directly from GoSphero.com, you will be able to purchase through Amazon later this week too! While you’re visiting GoSphero.com, check out the shiny new digs with their completely overhauled site: new images, new videos, new look and all the latest games.
We’ve been lucky enough to work with Sphero since their very first debut at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, which in the agency world is a rare treat to work with a product from start to finish. Now we’re in the home stretch with the Sphero team preparing for the big launch before the end of the year.
We made a little bit of noise in the blogoSphero (couldn’t help myself!) read articles below:
Boulder County Business Report
The Next Web
Seriously, our clients are really good at what they do. And when they have good news to share we love shouting it from the rooftops! Anyway, what’s more exciting than getting money? Orbotix, the creators of the robotic ball Sphero, closed $5 million in a Series B funding by Foundry Group and Highway 12 Ventures.
Not only is Orbotix getting some new funds to further the production of Sphero, it’s gaining a new board member: Mark Solon, managing director of Highway 12 Ventures. He joins Brad Feld, managing director of Foundry Group, who has been working with Orbotix since the TechStar days last summer. Read more from Mark on the Highway 12 Blog.
Sphero will be ready to ship before the holidays this year, but you can reserve your own here, which is recommended because we know they’ll be selling like hot cakes (hot spherical cakes).
Check out some of the coverage Orbotix received today with the announcement:
Lots of people use Google Calendar to manage their schedules. They enjoy the simple, powerful organizational tools it provides. Well, gCal just got even more useful.
Stage Two is pleased to announce full Google Calendar integration with NudgeMail, the email based reminder system. Starting today, you can set up appointments and reminders in Google Calendar with NudgeMail. Draft an email, send that email, see it in your gCal. It’s that easy.
NudgeMail users are drawn to the simplicity and ease of our reminder system. It uses plain language, works in any email client and doesn’t have anything to download or install. Now we’re providing more robust tools for setting reminders and managing your schedule from your inbox.
The Google Calendar integration also adds more functionality to your NudgeMail. For example, now you can get NudgeMail reminders via SMS just by turning on the gCal integration. If a service talks to gCal, it now talks to NudgeMail too.
To set up your gCal and NudgeMail together, go to www.nudgemail.com/gcal Not using NudgeMail yet? Just send a blank email to firstname.lastname@example.org (it’s that easy). NudgeMail was founded to help people manage their inbox. Now it helps people manage their calendar too.
The word is out and people are excited! See links below. If we’ve missed something, don’t worry, we will continue to add throughout the day:
Today our client VUDU announced a new value for users with the release of Twilight Eclipse: with your purchase of Twilight Eclipse at Walmart or www.walmart.com you receive a $5 VUDU movie credit! VUDU is bringing the best of physical and digital world together, giving users an awesome value. Here in the Stage Two offices we’re split 50/50 Team Edward and Team Jacob but tomorrow we plan to set aside our differences for the DVD release. (ahem, Team Jacob!)
This is the second major physical/digital offer VUDU and Walmart have introduced, the first being the DVD release of Toy Story 3 (To infinity and beyond!). VUDU is focused on delivering a “watch anywhere” world where users aren’t limited by how they purchased their movie, but instead can enjoy an immersive cinema experience when they want, where they want.
Don’t forget you can watch VUDU on enabled HDTVs and Blu-Ray disc players, PlayStation 3, Boxee Box, and your PC or Mac via the Boxee software.
See you in Forks.

VUDU is on a roll this year! Just in time for the holiday season, VUDU and Panasonic team up to stream VUDU’s HD library direct to Panasonic’s 2010 VIERA Cast-enabled Blu-Ray Disc players.
This marks the last remaining major consumer electronics manufacturers to add VUDU to its entertainment lineup. In just a short 18 months, VUDU expanded from its first embedded partner (LG) to all of the top nine CE manufacturers (LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Samsung, SANYO, Sharp, Toshiba and Vizio) and to its first console partner on the PS3.
This morning we’ve seen great coverage on the announcement. Read more below and we’ll continue to update during the day!
Last night at the Dolby Labs Theatre in San Francisco, VUDU announced they will be landing on the PlayStation®3 this month. VUDU also gave attendees a sneak peek of the new 2.0 user interface on the big screen, which goes live for all VUDU users in December.
The PS3™ delivers VUDU in a very fast and very powerful way, providing users with the same HD streaming users already love. Let’s not forget this includes streaming Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound.
Following roll out on the PS3™, in December VUDU will release a brand new 2.0 user interface. This new UI is optimized for HD and next generation controllers, including the PlayStation®Move. The redesign offers enhanced browsing, search and navigation to find your next favorite flick. You can see a few screen shots here.
We are seeing great coverage from last night and today – read more below and we’ll continue to update links throughout the day!
Stage Two loves working with clients who are pushing boundaries and making moves in the digital home, so we were very excited today when VUDU announced its availability on the Boxee platform and D-Link’s Boxee Box coming this November.
VUDU users can download Boxee’s free media center software to access VUDU’s massive SD movie collection on PC or Mac. This means you can literally watch VUDU streaming when you want, where you want and it is the first time you can access VUDU without buying a new device.
On the upcoming D-Link Boxee Box, VUDU will offer the full HD and HDX library in 1080p with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound. Over 3,000 HD flicks are available in VUDU’s library so go ahead and plan that epic movie marathon night for next month.
